LDF Catering
BACKGROUND:
The LDF Catering is a sub-unit established under Logistics unit, with the mandate of providing food items to all ranks of the LDF during peace time and in functional operations. Catering unit supports tactical and strategic military exercises and operations locally and internationally, for the accomplishment of LDF goals and obligations. In general, it functions as a supporting element to LDF units in ensuring their welfare through the provision of the necessary rations as a major responsibility, as well as elevating army official or ceremonial functions through setting and decorations.
THE LDF CATERING:
The LDF catering extends a helping hand by supply of ration to bereaved families on funerals of members, members' close families (Parents) as well as to the public in times of crisis in support of main stakeholders.
LDF Mess is not an independent body, therefore ability to achieve the above services is through the support of the Government by the facilitation of our procurement department. This include acquirement of equipment used that ease our operations. These equipment are categorized into two; heavy and light equipment.
OUR SERVICES:
STORES this department is responsible for management of goods inside the store.
BUTCHERY their core responsible is to slice all meats as per chef's requirements.
PROCUREMENT this department deals with buying of goods and service as well as supply chain management.
KITCHEN preparation of food for LDF personnel.
OUR PROFESSIONALS
The LDF Mess recruitment is internal. We select soldiers from other LDF units who in most cases do not have knowledge about catering. Upon recruitments, the recruits undergo Basic Chef Course under the supervision of our qualified chefs. Thereafter they will go through number of courses which will be followed by practicals and exposures. As indicated above recruitment is conducted internally, meaning we have no civilian staff the catering unit.
