LESOTHO DEFENCE FORCE ENGINEERING (LITHAKALI)

Background

The Lesotho Defence Force Engineering Unit was born of circumstances, rather than as product of some philosophy. It metamorphosed from a group of soldiers who were assigned as a hand to contractor who had been engaged to erect a structure at the Ratjomose Barracks, onto an organization intended for maintenance and construction. It took the latest and present form in early 2000's when with the help of the Indian Army Training Team in Lesotho (IATT) its mission was broadened to include the traditional mission of combat engineering.
