POSA STEMERE

Brigadier P Stemere was born on the 1 Jan 1968 and joined the Lesotho Defence Force on 1 July 1987 as a soldier. Upon completion of the recruit course, he served for eight years as a private and was selected to attend a short commissioning course run British Army Training Team (BATT) in Lesotho in 1995.

He further went on to attend training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (Cadet Course 962) in the UK from January 1996 and graduated in April 1997 and upon his return He served as an Instructor with the LDF Training Wing until 2001/2 when he attended Junior Command and Staff duties Course at the South African Army College as a Captain.

In 2002 he did Staff Methods Course with the South African Naval Staff College; following which he was promoted to the rank of Major and continued serving as an instructor with LDF TW. He attended the Senior Command and Staff Course (Senior Course 26) at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji Nigeria from 2003 to 2004 and upon his return was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

From 2004 to 2006 he served as a Commanding Officer of 13 Inf Bn of LDF. In July 2006, he was deployed with the African Union Mission in the Sudan (AMIS) where he was a Group side Commander in the west of Darfur in Kulbus. He returned to Lesotho in August 2007 and was deployed with 12 Inf Bn. The following year he attended Defence Advisor's Course ran by Indian Army Training Team in Lesotho (IATT).

He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in October 2008 and served as a Director of Human Resources for eight month following which he was appointed Defence Advisor with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he served for three and half years.

He returned to Lesotho in July 2012 and since then he has held the appointment of Provost Marshal with the LDF Military Police and shortly after that was appointed Director of personnel, the appointment he held until promoted to Brigadier in April 2018 with the appointment of the Brigade Commander.

Brigadier Stemere is married and blessed with three children; two girls and a boy. His hobbies include watching athletics and keeping himself fit.
